How stationary waves are formed ? 

Question: How stationary waves are formed ? [2 Marks]  { 2076,2055}

Answer: When two progressive waves of the same wavelength and amplitude travel with the same speed through a medium in opposite directions and superimpose upon each other, they give rise to a wave is called stationary waves.

In the stationary waves there are certain points where the amplitude is zero. These point are known as nodes. Midway between these nodes, there are another points where amplitude is maximum. These points are called amplitude. The formation of stationary wave along with  nodes and antinodes is shown in figure.


Usually in NEB exam, this question worth 2 marks and come attached with Short Answer Question(SAQ) which worth 5 marks according to new updated question pattern.
